PREempt HLD5 for Canadian Instrument Processing

HLD5 has its own five-minute processing soak for compatible reusable tools. Clean the tools first, then complete the soak, rinse and drying steps before storing them.

Use these AHP2 strips to check reused HLD5 solution as directed on its Canadian label. They are the matching strips for this product; the other PREempt strip type gives a different test.

Instructions & Downloads

  1. Check that the reusable tool is compatible with this solution and its own care instructions. The Virox guide covers suitable stainless steel and hard plastic tools and excludes carbide drill bits. Dispose of single-use tools after use.
  2. Clean tools with water and detergent, then rinse and dry them thoroughly before placing them in the soaking tray.
  3. Pour PREempt HLD5 directly into the tray without diluting it. Fully immerse the tools for 5 minutes. Do not leave them soaking overnight.
  4. Rinse the processed tools with water, dry them using a clean cloth or disposable towel, then store them in a clean container marked “DISINFECTED”.
  5. If reusing the solution, follow the AHP2 test-strip procedure and the product label. Discard it after 14 days or sooner if it is visibly soiled or fails the required strip result. Follow all label directions for the specific processing claim and intended use.

PREempt HLD5 is a 2% Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide® (AHP®) solution designed for use in instrument and device reprocessing of semi-critical and critical devices where rapid contact times and high level disinfection are required. PREempt HLD5 is a high level disinfectant with a 5 minute contact time against bacteria, viruses, fungi and mycobacteria.

PREempt HLD5 is a high level disinfectant and sterilant for processing heat sensitive semi-critical and critical  medical devices and instruments for which heat sterilization is not suitable.
