Choosing a medium diamond bit for refinement

Bud, barrel, olive and rounded-cylinder shapes give you different working surfaces. Choose the shape for the area you need to reach, then use this Nove Academy checklist to keep refinement controlled.

Instructions & Downloads

  1. Match the medium diamond bit to the task you’ve been trained to perform. Check the exact product directions rather than choosing by shape alone.
  2. Check the attachment and fit it with the machine stopped. Follow the handpiece instructions for insertion and locking and the bit’s operating limits.
  3. Keep the working area visible. Use light, moving passes and inspect the surface often; don’t press harder to compensate for an unsuitable shape or worn abrasive.
  4. Pause for heat, discomfort or unusual vibration. Lift away, stop the machine and reassess the tool and technique.
  5. Remove debris before reprocessing. Follow the bit maker’s compatible method and the disinfectant’s full label directions, then dry and store the bit protected.

Description

Medium (blue) and Coarse (green) bits are recommended for removing cuticle, removing the gloss of natural nails prior to applying acrylic nails, and shaping the free edge. Fine (red) bits are recommended for cleaning polishing around the nail plate. 

Upon completion of the work with a client, all bits that were used to perform the procedure must be washed, cleaned, sterilized and dried. A solution of at least 70% alcohol is recommended for effective disinfection.

Speed recommendation: up to 25000 RPM.
